Dialogue Baazi Game: How to Play, Plus a Free Version
The Dialogue Baazi game is a Bollywood party card game made by Dring. One player draws a card naming a film, an actor and a character, then says a line that character spoke. Everyone else races to name both the actor and the film.
If you do not have the deck, you can still guess the movie from dialogue free on your phone, which plays the same idea in reverse. Below are the rules, and twelve free lines to play. Dialogue is one of several ways to guess the Bollywood movie.
What is the Dialogue Baazi game?
Dialogue Baazi is a deck of 100 cards sold by Dring, a brand that makes card games for house parties. Each card names a movie, an actor or actress, and the character they played. It does not print the line. You have to remember it.
It is close to dumb charades, except talking is the whole job. The room works backwards from the line to the film.
The rules score in sips, so it is sold as an adult drinking game. It plays just as well with points.
How do you play Dialogue Baazi?
You play Dialogue Baazi in turns: draw a card, perform a line from that character, and let the room guess the actor and the film inside 90 seconds. These steps follow Dring's instructions.
- Shuffle the deck and place it face down.
- Take turns drawing the top card. Whoever draws is the acting player for that round.
- Read the card to yourself. It shows the movie, the actor or actress, and the character name.
- Perform a dialogue that character said in that film. It does not need to be word for word.
- Everyone else guesses the actor's name and the movie's name within 90 seconds.
- The first person to shout both correctly wins the round. They hand out five sips to the group, split however they like. If the actor cannot think of a line, or nobody gets both answers, the actor drinks three sips.
Notice who pays when a round fails: the actor, not the guessers. That one rule rewards the obvious line over the clever one.
How do you win a round of Dialogue Baazi?
You win a round by being first to shout both the actor and the film. Naming only one does not count, which is the rule people argue about most.
As the actor, I would always pick the line the whole room has quoted at a wedding, not the one you personally find funniest. Voice matters more than accuracy, so a rough line in the right accent beats a perfect one read like a train announcement.
How do you play Dialogue Baazi without drinking?
Replace every sip with a point. The winner of a round takes five points, and an actor whose round fails loses three. Play to fifty, or until dessert arrives.
This suits a mixed room with parents, children and the cousin who is driving. For the drinking version, these rules for Bollywood drinking games keep the sips sensible.
Is there a free game like Dialogue Baazi?
Yes. Guess the Movie from Dialogue on Desi Mauj is free, runs in a phone browser, and plays the Dialogue Baazi idea backwards. Instead of a card telling you who to perform, the free dialogue game shows you the line and asks for the film.
One person holds the phone and reads. The year appears on screen, a hint stays hidden until someone asks, and you can set it to Easy, Hard or a Mix.

Frequently asked questions
Is Dialogue Baazi a drinking game?
Yes, as written. Dring's rules score every round in sips: the winner hands out five sips to the group, and an actor who cannot produce a line, or a line nobody can place, drinks three. The game works just as well without alcohol. Swap the sips for points, keep the 90-second limit, and play to a target score.
How many cards are in Dialogue Baazi?
The Dialogue Baazi deck has 100 cards, according to its retail listings. Each card carries three things: a movie name, the actor or actress, and the character they played. The card does not print the dialogue, so the player who draws it has to remember a line, which makes it a memory test as much as a performance.
Do you have to say the dialogue word for word in Dialogue Baazi?
No. Dring's instructions say the dialogue does not have to be verbatim, and a slight deviation from the exact line is allowed. What matters is whether the room can recognize it. A line that is half right but delivered in the actor's voice usually lands faster than a perfect line read flat.
Is there a free game like Dialogue Baazi online?
Yes. Guess the Movie from Dialogue on Desi Mauj is free and runs in a phone browser with nothing to install. It plays the idea in reverse: the screen shows a famous line, and the room names the film. It deals lines at random, shows the year, and keeps a hint hidden until someone asks for it, so the host can play too.
