Privacy Policy
DesiMauj ("we", "our", "us") operates desimauj.com (the "Site"), a U.S. and Europe accessible entertainment website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and explaining how we collect, use, and share information. This Privacy Policy covers data collection through our Site, including through Google Analytics and (future) Google Ads, and our use of The Movie Database (TMDb) API. By using our Site, you consent to the collection and use of information as described below.
Information We Collect
Usage Data
We automatically collect non‐identifiable usage statistics when you visit our Site (for example, pages viewed, time spent, device/browser type, anonymized IP address and region). These are collected via Google Analytics and similar tools. In particular, Google Analytics stores cookies on visitors' devices to track how the Site is used. This usage information does not personally identify you.
Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and (in the future) advertising. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that enable us to recognize repeat visitors and collect information about your browsing activities. These include essential cookies (for site functionality), analytics cookies (to measure usage), and advertising cookies (if/when we display ads). Third-party vendors (including Google) use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Site. We obtain consent for cookies when required (see Cookies and Consent below).
The Contact Form
If you send us a message through our contact page, the name, email address and message you type are submitted to Web3Forms, a form delivery service, which forwards them to us by email. We use that information only to reply to you. Web3Forms handles the submission on our behalf and its own privacy policy covers what it does with the data in transit. The form is the only place on this Site where we ask you for personal information, and it is always your choice to use it.
No Personal Account Data
We do not provide user accounts or logins, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal details from visitors through the Site, apart from the contact form described above, which you choose to use. We do not collect payment information or any other sensitive personal information.
We do not collect or store any additional personal data beyond what is listed above and what is required to operate the Site.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect (e.g. analytics data) for purposes such as:
Operating & Improving Our Site
To analyze and understand how the Site is used, optimize performance, diagnose problems, and improve content and user experience.
Analytics
To compile aggregate statistics on Site usage (via Google Analytics). This helps us measure and understand visitor behavior (e.g. most visited pages, device/platform usage). Google's services comply with GDPR and other laws and do not share personally identifying data with us.
Advertising (future use)
We plan to display Google Ads (AdSense) to support our Site. If/when active, these ads may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve interest-based advertising. Google and its advertising partners use these cookies to show you ads based on your visits and interests. We will use such data only to improve and serve relevant ads.
We do not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We disclose our use of cookies and similar trackers as required by law. On your first visit (in the EU/UK/California, etc.), we inform you that cookies are used and we seek consent where legally required. You can manage or reject cookies via your browser settings or opt out of Google's interest-based ads by using Google's Ad Settings or aboutads.info. Even if you reject cookies, you can still browse the Site, though some features may be limited.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect usage data. This involves placing a cookie on your device to anonymously track pages visited and session duration. Google Analytics may collect your IP address (usually anonymized) and other device/browser data, but it does not capture names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers unless you have provided those to Google through other means. We use Google's recommended settings and abide by their Terms of Service, which require that a privacy policy be in place for analytics use. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising Cookies (Google Ads)
When we enable Google AdSense (or related Google ads products), Google and its ad partners may place cookies or other local storage to personalize ads and measure their effectiveness. In compliance with Google's policy, our privacy policy explicitly informs you of these advertising cookies and your opt-out options. You can control personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (you can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies via aboutads.info). If you are in the EU/UK or Switzerland, under Google's EU User Consent Policy we will obtain your consent for non-essential cookies and personalized advertising as required by GDPR/ePrivacy.
The Movie Database (TMDb) API
Our Site uses the free, non-commercial TMDb API to obtain movie and TV show data (titles, descriptions, posters, ratings, etc.). As required by TMDb's terms:
Attribution
We attribute TMDb as the data source wherever their content (such as movie posters, descriptions, etc.) is used. TMDb's policy explicitly states that free API use is permitted only with proper attribution to TMDb as the source of data and image. Whenever you see TMDb data on our Site, TMDb is credited.
Not Endorsed
Our Site is not endorsed or certified by TMDb. Like other developers, we include a notice that we use the TMDb API but are not affiliated with or officially endorsed by TMDb. (For example: "This site uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.") This is consistent with TMDb's requirements and with privacy best practices.
Data Sharing
We only use data/images from TMDb to display movie/show information on our Site. We do not share user data with TMDb. Any personal data handled by TMDb (such as API account info) is subject to TMDb's own privacy policy (available on themoviedb.org).
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services on our Site:
- Google Analytics: As noted, for web analytics. Google's data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense (future): For advertising. Google and its partners may collect data as described above.
- TMDb API: For movie data, as above.
- (Optional CDN/Hosting): We may use cloud services (e.g. Cloudflare or similar) for content delivery and security. These services may collect limited data (like your IP) to provide their service. We mention Cloudflare as an example; if we use it, its use is limited to performance and security.
We do not share your personal data with third parties except as necessary for the above services. For example, we share analytics and ads-related data with Google under their Data Processing Terms, but Google acts as a separate "controller" of that data under its own policies.
Data Security and Retention
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction (e.g. encrypted connections, regular updates, secure hosting). However, no Internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
We retain analytics and cookies data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Google Analytics data is subject to Google's retention settings. If you request deletion of personal data (see Your Rights), we will comply as required.
Your Rights (EU/UK/US)
GDPR (EU/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have certain rights under data protection laws. These include the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct or update any inaccuracies in that data.
- Request deletion (erasure) of your personal data.
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data.
- Portability (receive a copy) of your data.
- Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent) at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. the UK Information Commissioner's Office, ICO) if you believe we have not complied with the law.
We will honor these rights subject to legal requirements. For example, if you request deletion, we will erase personal data unless we have a compelling reason to keep it (e.g. for legal compliance). We do not rely on automated decision-making or profiling.
CCPA (California, US)
If you are a California resident, California law grants you rights similar to GDPR's (e.g. to know what data we have, to delete your data, to opt-out of sale). We do not sell or rent your personal information under CCPA definitions. (Third-party advertising involving Google AdSense is considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under CCPA, but as noted above, Google follows its own restricted data rules.) If you want to exercise any rights under California law (or other U.S. state privacy laws), you can contact us as below.
Other US States
Some U.S. states (e.g. Virginia, Colorado) have privacy laws providing data subject rights. We will comply with applicable laws and will respond to requests in accordance with those laws.
Children's Privacy
Our Site is intended for general audiences and does not target children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under the age of consent, we will delete that data.
EU/UK Cookie Consent (Special Notice)
If you are browsing from the EU, UK, or Switzerland, please note that we comply with EU ePrivacy and GDPR requirements. We will not place non-essential cookies (analytics/ads) on your device without consent. We will inform you about cookies and obtain your consent in accordance with applicable regulations. You may disable cookies through your browser or device settings at any time.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law or our practices. When we post a new policy on this page, the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any change indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, or if you wish to exercise your rights, please contact us. We will respond to your inquiries as required by law.
By using DesiMauj, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to our data practices as described.
