How do you play?
Hold the phone up so the screen faces the room. Your team frantically describes or acts out the word while you guess. Tilt the phone down for a correct answer, tilt up to skip, or just tap the on-screen buttons. You get sixty seconds a round.
How is it different from charades?
In traditional charades, one person performs in silence. Here, you are the only person who doesn't know the word, and the rest of the room does all the work. It is louder, more chaotic, and much kinder to people who refuse to act.
Do you need motion sensors?
No. Tilting is faster, but the on-screen buttons do exactly the same thing. If your browser asks for motion permission and you decline it, the game still runs perfectly fine.
How long is a round?
Sixty seconds. The game rewards blitzing through a pile of words rather than getting stuck trying to solve one impossible clue.
How many people do you need?
Three is the minimum, and it peaks at around twelve. Beyond that, the guessing just turns into an unintelligible wall of noise and the person holding the phone won't be able to pick out a single voice. If your group is larger, split into two teams and alternate.

How to play Filmy Tilt
One person holds the phone facing outward so the room can read the word and they cannot. Their team describes, acts or sings until somebody says it. The holder is the only person who does not know the answer, which is what makes this different from charades.
Sixty seconds. Short on purpose. The game is about the pile you get through, not any single word.
Two ways to answer. Tilt the phone down for correct, up to skip. If your phone will not give the page motion access, or you are on a laptop, the buttons do the same job. On an iPhone the browser asks for motion permission the first time, and the game runs fine if you decline.
Scoring. Each correct word is a point. Skips cost nothing, which is why a good team skips early rather than dying on one word. At the buzzer you get the list of what you got and what you skipped, which is usually where the argument starts.
Getting more out of a round
Hold the phone still. The sensor reads a deliberate tilt, and someone waving it around gets read as neither correct nor skip.
Nominate one person to call time. Anyone watching the screen instead of the room will always beat the buzzer by half a second.
Alternate which team plays rather than which person holds the phone, or the same confident cousin ends up holding it all night.
